If you do, then fine. If you feel that you have a duty to read the adverts because the some sites are funded by advertising, then fine. If you don't, then there's software that aims to block out those annoying banner adverts. You might also want to block those annoying windows that pop up (called "consoles") on some sites.
As well as being spared the sight of banners which are sometimes ugly, there's a major benefit. If you don't download so much, your surfing is faster. If you access a page which is 50% advertising (in bytes downloaded), then eliminating the adverts makes the download twice as fast!
