Wrestling Jett By Jett I wrestled with a man today who came from out of state for business. Before he arrived I moved some of the furniture out onto the patio and one of the couches to the side of the wall. I dragged my mats in from my studio and put a foam padding underneath as well as a blanket for extra cushion. I was hoping that would have been a good enough warm up, just to get the blood flowing a bit. I have taken about 11 days off from training, with the exception of a 30 minute run yesterday. With the consistent training over the last handful of months I felt my body needed some time to heal, regroup and feel fresh again. I spent most of my free time doing anything non-athletic. So I was looking forward to a fun competitive match, but didn't know if my body would feel refreshed or out of shape. I was showered and ready to go and even though it was 10 minutes after we agreed to meet, I was still surprised to hear the knock at the door. I had asked him to call when he landed, as I usually use that heads-up to get dressed. Well, actually I was dressed, but I often like to answer the door in a dress and some sort of feminine shoe. He caught me in blue jeans, bare feet, and a sleeveless top. He didn't seem to mind, as I apologized, but smiling, I promised him during our match he'd pay for the lack of phone call. He said he was "cell phone deprived", which I can relate to since I rid myself of one about 4 years ago. I gave him a hug and showed him the bathroom that he was to use. I asked to make sure if he wanted me to wrestle in a two piece or one piece bathing suit. The two piece bathing suit was his choice. He turned toward his bathroom and I went to change in my bedroom. I picked my red suit. I came out and he was in his speedo looking at photos and books that were in the book shelf. He was about 5'8", one inch short of me, and weighed around 178 pounds to my 141 lbs. I said, "let's stretch", because I knew he had been sitting on the plane for quite awhile, along with the fact that I hadn't moved with any speed recently I figured we could both use a few minutes warming up. Right away I noticed his legs and asked him if he biked. He mentioned he did but he rode the stationary bike. I agreed that I like the stationary bike as well because I can read while I work-out and my hair doesn't get all messed up! As we talked he sat there watching me. I gestured with my arm towards the backyard and instead of following my movement his eyes landed and stuck right at my bicep. That is one of the biggest differences that I've noticed about the men I've met to wrestle versus any other men I've met. The men who are interested in the women who wrestle or body build will get caught staring at your biceps or shoulders rather than your chest. It always surprises me, but in a nice way, it's so unoffensive. He wasn't stretching though so I gently reminded him that I didn't want to break anything he had so he'd better stretch. I started pulling my hair back in a ponytail and told him that I'd take it out when I got sweaty. (It doesn't fly around so much when wet) He commented that he'd use it against me, but, I visualized me whipping it in his face when it was wet and wondered if it would create a sting. So we were ready to go! I do like to start slowly just so the muscles have time to adjust to the effort. It also allows for me to quietly assess what type of personality he possess; is he highly aggressive or the more defensive type of opponent? Will he give me 100% or will he feel as though he has to hold back? (Some men are cautious of the weight difference). Does he really want to win or does he just enjoy feeling a woman's strength, maybe both? I think some of the men I've met to wrestle use the arm wrestling to answer the same questions about me. We started on our knees both locking onto each other. I could tell by his grip he was willing to give me good effort. As he pushed hard I tried to bring him off balance by giving way and pulling him down towards me. He had good balance as I couldn't easily bring him down as planned. I noticed we were pretty even in strength so I wouldn't be able to just muscle myself around him although my strength fortunately did come into play when I used my legs. Deciding to use a different approach I pulled him towards me and wrapped one of my legs around his neck and trapped one arm and shoulder as well. I was getting ready to apply a nice little triangle on him when he let me know we were moving onto the carpet. I let go and we started over from the kneeling position again. This time I pulled him towards me and wrapped my legs around his waist. He stuck close to me pressing hard against my body. I wouldn't be able to use my legs if he crowded me too close. I moved my hips and scooted them out from under him giving me the space I needed to flip him off of me (sweep him). I moved my left hand under his right hand taking his weight off the mat. At the same time with my right leg on the inside of his left I lifted it up which pushed him up and off to the left of me. Without the balance of his right hand on the mat he went over and onto his back. I rolled along with him and placed myself on top of him. Now this is what I like! I started to tease him that he shouldn't let me do that to him and now he's in trouble. I stretched my legs behind me and interlaced them with his, keeping him trapped and unable to move. To make it worse I pushed my pelvis into his stomach making it difficult for him to breath. My chest was pressing against his face which was being forced to the side and at the same time I placed my arms behind his neck and used that to help anchor my hold which I labeled proudly loud, "Oh, Looky!! A Grapevine!!" "Can you feel it?" I asked him. He made an effort that sounded like an affirmative grunt, but just to be sure I asked him again as I snapped my pelvis into his tummy creating the same grunt only this time a little louder. That created a giggle from me, but no sympathy yet. I was having fun! He tapped and I got off of him allowing him to come to his knees again. We ended up in the same situation, both pressing against each other. This time, I did scoot under him but wrapped my legs around his waist, locking my feet around each other, and squeezed. I started slowly at first because I wanted to make sure he was ready for my scissor hold. I could hear the air slowly going out of him but he was making a good effort to hold onto that last breath. He was smart to try to keep his lungs filled with as much air as he could muster. But one can only hold their breath so long, and I knew that. I kept squeezing. When I felt my feet tire a little from holding I started using more adductor muscles, which seemed to affect him even more. He tapped letting me know he'd had enough. He relaxed and I gently pushed him off of me, giggling as I did. He was such a good sport! Again we started, this time he was smart to try to avoid my legs and come around my side. But, this actually got him in more trouble and he ended up in the first hold that I had attempted before we were at the edge of the mat- The Triangle. I locked the hold with my legs pushing his arm across my body and trapping his head and one shoulder. This created the choke hold I was looking for. I kept him there for a little while before I started to squeeze. I could tell he liked this one ^Ñcause he tapped quickly. We were getting real sweaty and he reminded me that I could take my hair out of it's ponytail, which I did. He mentioned that I was too slippery. I had put some lotion on, which I always did, but it was too close to when we started wrestling. He was right, I was slippery, but it rubbed off on him as well, so I figured we were both at an even disadvantage (oxymoron?). I kept my legs between him and me and worked them around till I was able to get his back. My legs kept his hips from moving and I had good control of him while I let him know he was caught in a "Rear Naked Choke Hold". I only gestured to choke him and didn't take full advantage of my position. I only wanted him to be able to appreciate his vulnerability, not suffer because of it. I also pushed his face into the mat and asked him "what sort of noises are you going to make while doing business?" He moaned a little creating me to laugh. I asked him, "Can you elaborate on that please?" I squeezed my legs and he replied with another moan, this time longer. I pulled him over on top of me still keeping his back pressed hard against mine. He tried to escape by moving to the side of me. I let him slip off to the left of me which put him in another vulnerable position, now I could apply my side scissor hold. Arching my back a little I pressed my legs together and he tapped. He was causing me to work hard though, I wasn't sweaty because he was giving me the match. I was working for it and appreciated the challenge. I liked hearing him breathing with effort, it let me know he was working too. We continued and he applied a headlock which I was able to slip out from under due to my "sweaty" situation! I pulled myself towards his feet and locked my legs around his upper chest and neck. I could feel his breath on my legs, he was making an honest effort to escape. So I squeezed to keep him in place. He submitted to that hold as well. I worked my way to his side and showed him how I had control of his body. He attempted to move out from under me so I lifted up and placed one knee in his stomach and the other out to the side, allowing all my weight to press on him. I saw his discomfort and told him if he pushed on my knee it might push my knee off of his stomach. When he did as I suggested I grabbed his arm and swung around putting him in a gentle arm bar. I labeled that as well before my back hit the mat. He was good at defending it and was able to slip away. I tried a few more arm bar moves that were more effective than the first. ( I really only do the arm bars to see if I can get them, my intent is never to fully apply them, but it's good to keep in practice.) I came up and was along the side of him on my knees and reached under him grabbing his far leg. I also grabbed his far arm and pushed my weight against him. He fought it for a second, but again, ended up on his back with me at his side in a T configuration. My left leg was under his armpit, and my upper body was strewn across the top of him pressing down. I trapped his left arm with my hand and pressed it down figure fouring it with my other hand. I let him know this was a "key lock". I moved around his body showing him holds that, when applied, would create a submission. I could tell he was tiring a little so having fun at his expense was my agenda. A little while later, as he lay trapped on his back, he said, "May I have some of that Banana bread you made and the coffee you mentioned earlier?" Oh! Of course! I got up, threw him a towel and gave him his water. He drank and getting up said "I'm going to go fix myself, I'll be back". I went into the kitchen, grinded the coffee and got that going while I quickly popped into the shower. We hung out on the deck drinking coffee and talking a little bit about wine tasting and dogs among other things. So I had a nice time and think he did too. I appreciate his support and effort to meet me and hope I face him on the mats again one day. Jett superjett8@hotmail.com http://www.wrestlejett.com
